A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Today marks a significant milestone in Club Bombala’s history – our Liquor Licence turns 75 years old! On 19 April 1951, the licence that would eventually serve our beloved club was first issued, marking the beginning of a long tradition of hospitality in our community.
The building that now houses Club Bombala has an interesting past. Originally constructed as the Bank of NSW, it was later repurposed and transformed into the club we know and love today. The historic architecture still stands as a testament to the building’s enduring presence in Bombala.
Two Birthdays to Celebrate
While our Liquor Licence celebrates 75 years this April, the Club itself has a different birthday. The official opening of Bombala RSL Club Ltd didn’t take place until 15 December 1956, meaning the Club will celebrate its 70th birthday this December. It’s a unique piece of history – the licence predates the Club’s official opening by more than five years!
This fascinating timeline shows how the building and its purpose evolved over time, from a bank to a licensed premises, and finally to the RSL Club that has become such an important part of our community.
Special Festivities Ahead
We’re planning special festivities to mark the Club’s 70th birthday in December, so stay tuned for announcements about how we’ll be celebrating this significant milestone. It’s going to be a wonderful opportunity to reflect on seven decades of service to our members and the Bombala community.
